June 8: 2023 Construction Season & Board Meeting

Good morning,

As schools let out for the summer, our construction season starts to pick up. Thanks to your hard work, a handful of our projects have already been completed for the 2023 season, including the Lohr Rd resurfacing project and the Bemis Rd resurfacing project. Multiple projects are well underway, including the non-motorized pathway projects on Huron River Dr and Platt Rd, as well as the Michigan Ave reconstruction project, the Bridge Preventative Maintenance program, and the Textile Rd resurfacing project. Coming up for the 2023 season are a few major closures, including the Parker Rd culvert replacement project, the Bemis Rd and Whittaker Rd roundabout project, and the N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd safety project, as well as the start of our Chip Seal program!

During our board meeting this week, more than a handful of township agreements were approved for local road improvements (Freedom Twp, Lyndon Twp, Manchester Twp, Salem Twp, Scio Twp and the Village of Manchester). We now have local road improvements scheduled in 19 of our 20 townships with a total price tag of $6.5 million. Pretty impressive and now lots of work to do on our local road system!

In short, we are entering the busiest time of year for our organization, and as a result of your diligence, we are off to a great start. Thankfully, we have some rain heading our way in the next few days. Hopefully this will help the dust and severe dryness issue that has been heavily affecting our state recently.

Take care and stay safe!
