Latest Updates
The contractor working on behalf of the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) has completed several items of work on State Rd between Michigan Ave (US-12) and Old State Rd in Pittsfield Township. This includes the installation of new crossroad culverts, construction of new concrete curbs, and installation of the aggregate base.
The next step in the work includes asphalt paving of the newly widened section north of Campus Parkway. Once that has been completed, the contractor will shift to milling (grinding off top layer) and asphalt resurfacing of the existing pavement. This will include paving final asphalt layer (i.e., top course) to the widened section, ensuring a smooth and durable finish for the entire roadway.
Throughout the closure, access to local businesses remains open. WCRC reminds motorists to be extra cautious; please proceed slowly through the construction area and remain attentive to both construction personnel and fellow drivers to promote everyone’s safety.
The WCRC will continue to send updates as the project progresses.
If you have questions, please contact Felix Weber, Project Manager, at (734) 327-6689 or email [email protected].

The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is excited to announce a $9.4 million investments in improving approximately 37 miles of paved and unpaved roads across Washtenaw County during the 2025 construction season. These important projects are made possible through a combination of funding sources, including the 2025-2028 Four-Year County-Wide Roads and Non-motorized Millage, Federal Funds, Township partnerships, and Michigan Transportation Funds (MTF).
“This year’s resurfacing program is just one of the ways WCRC is committed to protecting the county’s transportation infrastructure,” said Brent Schlack, P.E., Director of Engineering and County Highway Engineer. “The successful completion of these critical projects requires a blend of resources and collaboration.”
Construction is slated to begin in mid-April and will continue through the fall of 2025, weather permitting. As part of this program, WCRC will also undertake necessary forestry work to maintain the safety and integrity of the roadways.
