August 22, 2024 Project Update #2: Bemis Rd Paving Project (Augusta & Ypsilanti Twps.)

The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is delaying the paving project on Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd in Augusta and Ypsilanti Townships due to critical utility relocations essential for the continuation of the project. 

 The Bemis Rd paving project is scheduled to be completed in the 2025 construction season. WCRC is actively collaborating with utility providers to expedite the relocation process.

March 11, 2024 Project Update #1: Bemis Rd Paving (Augusta & Ypsilanti Twps)

During the 2024 construction season, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) plans to pave Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd in Augusta & Ypsilanti Townships. During construction, Bemis Rd will be closed to all traffic and a detour will be posted.

March 7, 2024 Daytime Road Closure: Bemis Rd (Augusta & Ypsilanti Twps)

WHERE: Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd in Augusta & Ypsilanti Townships

WHY: Forestry work

BACKGROUND: On Monday, March 11, 2024, a contractor for the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd in Augusta & Ypsilanti Townships during daytime hours to perform forestry work.

The road will re-open at the end of each workday and remain open until work resumes the following morning.

The forestry work is expected to take approximately five days. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

WHY: The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will hold a virtual project information meeting regarding the planned paving project for Bemis Rd in Augusta & Ypsilanti Townships.

During construction, Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd will be closed to ALL traffic and a detour will be posted. The closure is expected to be in place for approximately 12 weeks, weather pending.

The virtual public meeting will be held via Zoom on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. There will be a brief presentation followed by time for questions from the audience. A recording of the meeting will be posted to the project web page after the meeting.
