Trail Making on the Peninsula

By August 9, 2019Project Updates

The last few weeks have been very busy on the Huron River Drive D2 Segment of the B2B trail project in Scio Township. The temporary bridge is now complete and our contractor is using it to transport equipment and materials to the peninsula area to facilitate the construction of the trail.

The temporary bridge crossing the Huron River has been completed

Caution is still advised while boating/tubing along the river. River-users will need to pass under the temporary bridge, so please be mindful of the piers in the water.

They have already made great progress on the section of trail running through the peninsula, they are getting ready to grade, place sub-base, and then pavement on this section. Our contractor also continues to install the boardwalk along Huron River Drive.

If you have questions about the construction project, please contact Jason Voigt, project manager, (313) 434-4601, [email protected].

This project is part of the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission’s Border-to-Border Trail Network in partnership with the Huron Waterloo Pathway Initiative. The Washtenaw County Road Commission is involved with this project to help administer federal funds from the Transportation Alternatives Program Grant.

The pathway is now being constructed on the peninsula.
