On March 25th, the intersection of Martz Road at Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti Township was closed to traffic to allow for the contractor to begin constructing a roundabout. This week, work is focused on removing the existing asphalt pavement and preparing the site for grading operations.
As part of the early stages of construction, the contractor is also installing soil erosion and sedimentation control measures to ensure proper environmental protection throughout the project. Following pavement removal, crews will begin shaping and establishing the ditch lines to provide proper drainage within the project limits.
The intersection of Martz Rd and Whittaker Rd remains closed to all traffic, so please follow the posted detour. The Washtenaw County Road Commission will continue to send out updates as the project progresses.
