The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is excited to announce intersection and curve improvements at the intersection of Ridge Road and Hack Road in York Township.
What will the improvement look like? WCRC, in partnership with the Monroe County Road Commission (MCRC), is planning the following improvements to the intersection of Ridge Road and Hack Road and the curve on Ridge Road:
- Realign intersections of Ridge Road and Hack Road and at Westfall Road
- Wedging of the curve and installing of a high friction surface
- Installing centerline and shoulder rumble strips on the curve
- Paving shoulders along the curve
- Paving the gravel road approaches
Why this intersection? In 2017, WCRC applied for a grant to improve the intersection from the Michigan Department of Transportation’s High Risk Rural Roadways Program. This intersection was identified based on crash history and concerns expressed by residents. WCRC was awarded the $330,000 grant in February 2018.
When will this project be completed? Construction is expected to take place during the summer of 2019. It will take approximately two months to complete the project. During this time, the intersection will be completely closed to traffic and a detour will be posted.
