Preliminary work will soon begin on Hewitt Road between Harding Avenue and Burns Avenue in Ypsilanti Township.
This work is in preparation for a new pedestrian crossing which will be constructed on Hewitt Road, north of Harding Avenue next year. This project is funded by an MDOT safety grant and Ypsilanti Township.
Hewitt Road will remain open during construction but there may be traffic delays due to intermittent lane restrictions.
Overall, this safety project will include a new pedestrian crossing on Hewitt Road, just north Harding Avenue, and a new sidewalk on the west side of Hewitt Rd to connect to this crossing. The existing pedestrian crossing at Burns Avenue will be removed after we have completed the crossing near Harding Avenue.
