Our contractors are starting to make progress on the Hewitt Rd safety improvement project in Ypsilanti Township. Last week, they poured concrete foundations for the steel mast arm. This week, they hope to install the mast arm in the new foundation. Eventually, the mast arm will hold up an illuminated crosswalk sign, lights to illuminate the crosswalk at night and a flashing beacon to alert motorists of pedestrians in the crosswalk.
During this week’s mast arm installation, Hewitt Rd near Harding Ave will be closed for a few hours. We expect this closure to occur later this week, depending on the weather.
Once the mast arm has been installed, there will be a pause in the action onsite as our contractors prepares for the sidewalk and crosswalk work.
