This week at the Hewitt Rd Safety Project, the mast arm installation has been completed. The signs and lights on the mast arm will be uncovered once the entire project is completed.
Beginning Monday, May 17, our contractor plans to start removing the current sidewalk. Due to this, the sidewalk on the east side of Hewitt Rd between Harding Ave and Burns Ave will be closed.
Also starting Monday, the center turn lane between Harding Ave and Burns Ave will be closed to begin constructing the pedestrian refuge island. Traffic will be shifted to the outside lanes, impacting the shoulder/bike lanes. Please be aware that for approximately the next 8 weeks motorists and bicyclists will be sharing the lanes.
