At the Hewitt Rd Safety Project in Ypsilanti Township, a brand new pedestrian refuge island is scheduled to open later this week.
There will be continued work in the area in the following weeks to remove the old island near Burns Ave, fill in the hole where the previous island was with asphalt, and reconstruct the remaining sidewalk ramps. The lane restrictions will continue as we finish the remainder of the work.
