Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our virtual public meeting on Thursday, April 7, regarding the planned bridge rehabilitation projects on the E. Delhi Rd Bridge and the Maple (Foster) Rd Bridge over the Huron River in Scio and Ann Arbor Townships. If you were unable to attend the virtual meeting, click here to view the meeting recording.
The closures for the two truss bridges are scheduled to begin in early July. The E. Delhi Rd Bridge in Scio Township is expected to be closed for approximately 2 weeks, weather pending. The Maple (Foster) Rd Bridge in Ann Arbor Township is expected to be closed for approximately 12 weeks, weather pending.
During the work, the bridges will be closed to ALL traffic. The full closure is necessary due to the space required to conduct the painting operation and will include all traffic over the bridge (vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian) as well as closure to river traffic under the bridge. A work platform will be placed under the bridges and will prohibit all river traffic from passing under the bridges.
This project will include cleaning the E. Delhi Rd truss bridge as well as painting a portion of the bridge. The Maple (Foster) Road truss bridge will be completely repainted, and improvements to the road approach drainage and guardrail will be completed.
A detour will be posted for each bridge (E. Delhi Rd Bridge Detour and Maple (Foster) Rd Bridge Detour).
Due to the nature of the work to be performed in maintaining these historic and much beloved metal truss bridges, the work must be performed during the time of year when weather conditions are more likely to be conducive to cleaning and coating (painting). We appreciate the users’ patience while we perform this work.
