Carpenter Rd: Paving Coming Soon

Our contractor continues to make good progress on the Carpenter Road resurfacing project in Pittsfield Township. The outside curb lanes remain closed to accommodate ongoing construction work, including pedestrian signal improvements, concrete curb and concrete sidewalk construction.

We hope to begin milling and paving the outside curb lanes in the next 1 – 2 weeks, weather permitting. After we have finished paving the outside curb lanes, northbound and southbound traffic will be shifted to these newly paved lanes. Work will then begin on the interior lanes.

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), our employees and contractors are instructed to practice social distancing while on the job site. If you have questions about the project, please do not approach staff in the field. Instead, contact Aaron Berkholz, senior project manager, [email protected], (734) 327-6648.

P.S. Based on what we are hearing from DTE, Pittsfield Township’s street lighting project along Carpenter Road is expected to start soon. This work is being performed under a separate contract. We are coordinating with DTE in hopes of accommodating this street lighting work during the ongoing road improvements. However, the projects are moving forward on independent schedules. Some street lighting work is likely to occur after the road improvements have been completed.
