Carpenter Rd: Let’s Get Paving!

Paving is expected to start this week on Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township. Our contractor is planning to start milling tomorrow in the intersections and closed curb lanes. We are then hoping to start paving on Thursday. This first round of milling/paving should take 4 – 5 days, depending on the weather.

While this is great news for the project schedule, it will mean more traffic delays for motorists, especially while we are milling/paving the intersections of  Carpenter/Ellsworth, Carpenter/Center Valley and the southern leg of Carpenter/Packard. We will maintain traffic flow with flaggers but major congestion is expected during the milling/paving process.

Once we finish paving the outside curb lanes, we will shift northbound and southbound traffic to the newly paved lanes and close the inside lanes for milling/paving. While these inside lanes are closed, left turns from the outside lanes will not be allowed at individual driveways but will be allowed at the intersections. We know this will be a major inconvenience but it is for the safety of all motorists during construction.
