Backfilling and Wall Building

By October 10, 2019Project Updates

Things are starting to look like a bridge on Saline-Milan Road in York Township. Our contractor has already completed the backfill at each quadrant of the bridge and they placed riprap (large rocks) for slope protection.

All this work has allowed our contractor to pull some of the steel sheeting, allowing the water to flow under the bridge as it should.  This is great news as it allows them to shut down the bypass pumps that were running 24-7, reducing construction noise for the adjacent neighbors.  Once all of the bridge sheeting has been removed, our contractor will begin backfilling over the top of the bridge.

The block wall on the westerly side of the road was also completed this week.  Our contractor’s road crew will be on-site next week to begin the base construction of the road.  We are hoping to start paving the week of October 21, if the weather cooperates.

If you have questions about the bridge project, please contact Nate Murphy, bridge engineer, [email protected], (734) 327-6647.
