A Pause in the Action

By March 22, 2019Project Updates

The reinforcing steel crew completed their work placing and tying the epoxy-coated resteel for the deck, bridge barrier railing, and sleeper slab (road approach item). Our contractor will be back onsite briefly next week to cover up the resteel.

Next step is the placement of the cast-in-place (CIP) concrete deck. Our contractor has elected to wait to pour the bridge deck until seasonal weight restrictions aka frost laws have been lifted. Seasonal weight restrictions may be lifted sometime in April, but this will depend upon weather conditions over the next few weeks.

When the work does resume, the focus will be on pouring the concrete bridge deck and the barrier rail. Once those items are completed, our contractor will then turn to the construction of the road approaches to the bridge.

It’s almost time to pour the concrete deck on the Sharon Valley Road Bridge
