Good morning,
While our operations crews worked hard this week to continue dust control applications and tackle a handful of drainage projects, they have also been coordinating two extensive culvert replacement projects! These projects are located on Old US-12 in Sylvan Township and on Prospect Rd out in Superior Township. Unfortunately, the culvert replacement on Old US-12 continues to be postponed due to a nearby Amtrak closure – a frustration that many of us are familiar with. However, both the engineering and operations departments are working hard to get this project on our schedule. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
At their board meeting on Tuesday, our board approved several important equipment purchases. We will be ordering a backhoe loader to replace 840, a replacement motor grader to replace 466 and a new poly tanker trailer. While some of these order times are long, we look forward to putting this new equipment into operation.
On another note, I would like to remind our organization that open enrollment is swiftly approaching. Open enrollment is generally held during mid-October and allows WCRC employees the opportunity to review their benefits plans and make changes if they want to do so. Outside of a life-changing event (I.e. marriage, birth of a child, etc…) this is the only time of the year that employees can make changes to their benefits plan – so reach out to HR with any questions relating to your personal benefits and/or open enrollment.
Finally, a special birthday call-out to Aaron Berkholz who is celebrating the big 50 today! There are few people who enjoy celebrating their birthdays more than Berk. While he would love to claim the entire month of September as his, we will settle on a special birthday wish today. Additionally, Sam Smith celebrates her birthday today so Berk has to share both his day and his month. Give them both a warm birthday wish if you see them! If you feel strongly about sharing your birthday as well, please let us know. We are happy to share your special day too!
I hope you all were able to adjust well to coming into work this morning – I know I was happy for a little bit of extra sleep.
It looks like we have a cool and sunny fall weekend approaching. I hope you enjoy it.
Take care & stay safe,
Sheryl
