Sept. 24: Safety Grant Project in Dexter Twp

By September 27, 2021Employee Communications

Good morning,

Well, Fall is officially here and it sure feels like it. Thank you for all your efforts this week to hold our road system together despite all this rain. Mother Nature has certainly given us plenty of opportunity to evaluate our drainage systems but it will be nice to get a break in the weather this weekend.

I’m pleased to share that we were recently awarded grant funding for safety improvements on N. Territorial Rd near Dexter Town Hall Rd in Dexter Township. These federal safety funds come from the High-Risk Rural Roadways Program administered by MDOT. The nearly $700,000 grant will allow us to cut down the hill on N. Territorial Rd, west of Dexter Town Hall Rd. In addition, we will construct left-turn lanes on N. Territorial Rd at Dexter Town Hall Rd. Lastly, the grant will allow us to place centerline rumble strips and upgrade safety signage along the corridor. The project now moves into the design phase in preparation for 2023 construction.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this grant application! Bringing this money into the county is another important way that we can improve roadway safety. If you are curious, we have a chart detailing all of our grant applications on our website: click here to check it out.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
