BACKGROUND: Starting on Thursday, August 11, 2022, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin preventative maintenance fog seal projects on Cavanaugh Lake Rd between the county line and Pierce Rd in Sylvan Township, Werkner Rd between M-52 and Island Lake Rd in Sylvan and Lyndon Townships, Island Lake Rd between Werkner Rd and Stofer Rd in Lyndon Township, Stofer Rd between Island Lake Rd and N. Territorial Rd in Lyndon Township and Hadley Rd between N. Territorial Rd and the county line in Lyndon Township.

The work on these roads is expected to take two days to complete. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Fog seal is another thin layer of liquid asphalt placed on top of a recent chip seal that helps to seal in the chips and further protect the pavement.

The work will be conducted under a combination of lane restrictions and daytime closures to allow the fog seal to cure. A contractor for WCRC will return to this area in a few weeks to place permanent pavement markings.
