The week of May 12th, E.T. MacKenzie, the contractor for the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC), closed Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd in Augusta and Ypsilanti Townships and started the planned road reconstruction work.
Bemis Rd will be under construction this summer, starting with installing erosion control, excavating to provide enhanced drainage for storm water run-off, and eventually widening and resurfacing the road with hot mix asphalt (HMA). A sizeable crossroad culvert will also be installed.
The road closure is expected to last approximately 12 weeks, weather permitting.
WCRC will provide further updates as additional information becomes available and as the project progresses.
