October 6: Board Meeting & Q3 ROW Award Winners

Good morning,

October is here, but it sure has felt like a second summer for the past few days! This week our crews continued to chip away at our Prospect Rd culvert replacement & resurfacing project out in Superior Township, as well as a culvert replacement project at Cayman Blvd and Textile Rd in Pittsfield Township. Dust control operations continued in a handful of townships and some of our crews have started dry run. Thanks for all your hard work!

During the board meeting on Tuesday, our commissioners approved a resolution requesting that the County Board of Commissioners (BOC) place renewal and restoration of the county road and non-motorized millage on the state and local primary ballot in 2024. In the past, this millage has provided us the ability to perform quite a bit of preventative maintenance as well as provide matching funds for several larger projects. Our intent is to prepare a plan and educational information for the 2025-2028 millage similar to what we did in 2020. We have information from the last millage renewal on our website if you are interested in seeing what was done in the past and what is likely to be refreshed soon. Next step is presenting this resolution to the BOC. Stay tuned for more information!

And lastly, I am excited to announce the winners of the Recognize-Our-Workforce (ROW) Award for the third quarter of 2023. Winners are randomly selected from the 13 nominations that were submitted. Congratulations Becky Houle, Project Manager – Traffic & Safety, and Tiffany Lobbestael, Operations Clerk, for being selected! Becky was nominated due to her resourcefulness in coordinating with MDOT and contractors to complete the safety projects on Pleasant Lake Rd and Dexter-Pinckney Rd. Tiffany was nominated due to her organization, attention to detail and thoroughness for board packet items. Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination. Please continue to showcase the hard work performed by your co-workers. Our next drawing will be in January 2024!

Hope that you enjoy the upcoming weekend no matter what your plans may be!

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
