May 21: The Moving Forward Plan

May 21, 2020

Good Afternoon,

Congratulations! We are almost there – the start of a holiday weekend and the unofficial start of summer in Michigan. It’s been another interesting week with more than 2 inches of rain. I really appreciate all of your hard work to put the road system back together again.

As you know, I’ve been working with the senior management team on a plan for our next steps. Governor Whitmer continues to open up different sectors of our economy and the current Stay Home order expires on May 28. With that in mind, we have developed WCRC’s Moving Forward Plan.

The plan includes:

  • A four-phase chart outlining what our workplace will look like as the situation evolves
  • Supervisor and employee’s responsibilities
  • Safety and exposure protocols
  • Leave options

As you will see in the phases chart, we have been operating in phase 1 for the past 7 weeks. Right now, I expect to transition to phase 2 starting June 1. Phase 2 will feel similar to phase 1 for many of us, especially our field staff. However, many of our office staff will start reporting to the administration building on a limited basis so these rules may be new to them. And with more people in the building, additional safety protocols are now required.

The biggest changes when we transition to phase 2 will be:

  • Masks must be worn inside a WCRC facility whenever an employee leaves their assigned workspace (office, cubical, vehicle)
  • Common spaces will have posted limited occupancy, including break rooms.
  • If reporting in-person, as employees check-in with supervisors at the start of their shift they must answer the latest health screening questions via text, phone call or email (see page 7 in the report).

Preparedness, Response and Moving Forward Plan

This is a living document and will be updated as necessary. This continues to be an ever-evolving situation and I appreciate your patience.

If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor, director or me.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend, and that you and your family can take advantage of the nicer weather that has finally arrived.

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
