May 14: Don’t Forget the Basics

May 14, 2020

Good Afternoon,

As we close out this busy week, I want to thank all of your for continuing your efforts to keep our workforce safe. This continues to be a challenging time and it is easy to feel overwhelmed with the latest protocols and recommendations – especially when they keep changingAt the end of the day, there are a few basic rules we all must follow:

  1. Wash hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  1. Maintain at least 6 feet of social distance between you and others.
  1. Wear a mask or face covering when entering a public enclosed space and/or when you cannot maintain appropriate social distancing
  1. If you are feeling sick, stay home.

I know you have heard these messages a thousand times at home and work, but they are critically important and bear repeating. Everyone needs to do their part so we can get through this.

I continue to work closely with the senior management team on a plan for slowly expanding our work responsibilities as the situation (hopefully) continues to improve. I intend to present the plan at next week’s supervisors meeting and then share it with all of you. The governor continues to reopen various parts of our economy and the Stay Home, Stay Safe order expires on May 28 so we need to be prepared for what our workplace will look like in the next phase of this pandemic.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please reach out to your supervisor, director or me.

Thank you and I hope you have a relaxing weekend.  Looks like we may actually stay above freezing for a while!
