May 13 – What a Fantastic Week!

Good Afternoon,

What a fantastic week!

The chip seal team has already made great progress on the first projects of the season in Districts 4 and 5. They will be wrapping up Austin Rd today and heading to Saline, York and Augusta Townships this afternoon and next week. Nice work everyone!

We also welcomed seven summer interns and workers earlier this week (check out their photos in the full update). They will be working on various projects throughout the county, helping construction & design, traffic &safety, permits and operations. Welcome to all!

Monday, Governor Whitmer announced that Michigan has reached our first COVID vaccine milestone – 55% of adults with at least one dose. This means that state remote work requirements will be lifted starting May 24. The directors and I are working on our remote work policy and will present it to the board in June. We are also reviewing any state guidance on office work to ensure that we have best practices in place as we start to welcome back those employees who have been required to work remotely for the past months. More to come on this soon.

Thankfully, Mother Nature was also kinder to us this week (although on Tuesday, I was told it snowed on the chip seal team on Austin Rd) and we have also made significant progress on our projects including Platt Rd, Bemis Rd, Miller Rd, Oak Valley Dr and Parker Rd (more photos in the full update).

Thanks to everyone for your efforts this week, it is so nice to have some positive news to share.

Please enjoy the weekend. Looks like a beautiful forecast!

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
