May 11: Summer Interns & IT Upgrades

Good afternoon,

What a beautiful week it has been! Between the sunshine and warm temperatures, it’s finally starting to feel like spring – which means road construction is here at WCRC.

A handful of our construction projects have been progressing well this week, including the Lohr Rd and Textile Rd resurfacing projects. And our operation crews have been working hard at tackling drainage projects out in Augusta Township. Take a look at the pictures below to see some action shots from the field. Additionally, the Michigan Ave reconstruction project begins tomorrow, May 12. In short, our construction season is well underway for 2023.

On another note, WCRC’s summer interns started working this Monday. Summer internships are a wonderful way for students to gain valuable experience and earn money. These internships are also an opportunity for us to show others what we do and encourage them to join our transportation profession whether it be driving trucks, operating equipment or engineering and constructing projects. Please keep an eye out for these summer employees and give them a warm WCRC welcome!

Yesterday, AVI completed installing the Microsoft Teams meetings software and technology in conference room 106. This conference room is almost identical to room 234 and now equips our permits department with a fully functioning conference room. If you have any difficulties using this technology or would like to receive training on how to use it, reach out to the IT department.

Finally, this Sunday is Mother’s Day. Please give all the moms in your life a big hug!

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the weekend ahead,

Sheryl
