March 8: Thank you, Board Meeting & 2025-28 Millage

Good morning,

I first want to start out by thanking the leadership team at WCRC for stepping up this week while I was out of the office sick dealing with a gastrointestinal infection that landed me at Chelsea hospital for two nights. Brent Schlack filled in for me at our WCRC Board meeting on Tuesday. Aaron Berkholz participated in chat Wednesday afternoon. Adam Lape attended the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting on my behalf Wednesday along with our Chairperson Barb Fuller. I am back in the office today and so appreciative for all the support while I was off.

This week our operations crews continue to make great progress with our culvert replacement projects on Ellsworth Rd & Weber Rd in Lodi Township, as well as on Spencer Rd in Northfield Township. Additionally, crews performed some drainage work in both Lyndon & Sylvan Townships, and unpaved road maintenance has continued with the fluctuating weather conditions.

During the board meeting this week, temporary traffic control orders were approved for both Plymouth-Ann Arbor Rd (near Cherry Hill Rd) in Superior Township and Ann Arbor-Saline Rd (near Maple Rd) in Lodi & Pittsfield Townships. WCRC has been working to address resident concerns regarding street parking at both of these locations for some time now. While we wait for further information from the Michigan State Police, the temporary TCO’s will help mitigate safety concerns.

As mentioned, on Wednesday evening, the BOC discussed the 0.5-mil Four-Year County-wide Road and Non-Motorized millage renewal and restoration for 2025-2028. The BOC is working towards placing this on the August 6, 2024, ballot for voters to consider.

Stay dry and be well this weekend!

Matt
