Good morning,
It seems only fitting that our crews would have to address snow fall during the official start of spring. But that’s Michigan for you! Nevertheless, our Operations crews have continued to knock out a portion of our culvert projects. This week, crews were able to replace culverts on Eisman Rd and Neblo Rd in Bridgewater Township, as well as on Tracey Rd in Manchester Township. Keep up the great work!
During the board meeting on Monday, the WCRC Board approved the purchase of three GMC Terrain vehicles for the Engineering department, as well as a new motor grader for our Operations department. Additionally, Nate Murphy provided a presentation regarding the 2027 MDOT Local Bridge Program project applications. Thanks to the support of the WCRC Board, applications will be submitted for Parker Rd, over Trib to Mill Creek in Scio Township, Willis Rd, over Paint Creek in Augusta Township, Sibley Rd, over Letts Creek in Sylvan Township, and Ford Rd, over Fleming Creek in Superior Township.
Wednesday evening, Adam Lape and I attended the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting in which they approved the first reading of the Renewal and Restoration of the Road and Non-Motorized millage for 2025-2028. This is the first of two steps the BOC must take to put the millage on the ballot for the August 2024 election. The second reading is expected to take place on April 3, 2024.
Also, this week, WCRC staff and Board members attended the 2024 County Road Association Highway Conference and Road Show in Lansing. This event was a great opportunity for our staff members to network and attend educational sessions. WCRC was awarded three IMPRESS Awards for Township Billing Process – Operations Category, Culvert Replacement Projects – Collaboration Category, and Bring the Media to You – Communications Category. Also, a special thank you to Nicole Peterson for presenting the topic of on and off boarding employees at this year’s conference.
Happy Friday and have a good weekend.
Matt
