March 19: Making Our Way Through the List

Good Afternoon,

As is typical in March, we saw a little bit of every season this week – rain, sleet, sun and wind. Thank you for your continued efforts to hold our road system together during the always-interesting Michigan spring, which officially begins tomorrow.

On the COVID front, 13 more employees got their first dose of the vaccine this week. As appointments are made available to us, we will keep working our way down the list of employees who have expressed interest. The COVID vaccine remains optional for employees but I highly encourage you to get it when possible. If you have changed your mind, please notify Nicole asap and we can add you to the list.

Speaking of good news, it is almost time to switch to our summer hours. Starting Thursday, April 22, most of the organization will switch to four, 10-hour shifts, Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Summer hours will end Wednesday, September 8.

Usually, our spring luncheon/training marks the start of our summer schedule. Unfortunately, we’ve decided to postpone the event again this year due to COVID and gathering restrictions. One topic that many of us enjoy at the training is MERS but since the training is postponed, we won’t see MERS representatives in person this spring. Luckily, MERS has a lot of great pre-recorded content and upcoming events on their website. Click here to see their event calendar. We promise to hold a spring event again once the COVID threat has truly passed.

I hope you have a great weekend, looks like we have some beautiful spring weather coming our way.

Thanks again, take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
