March 17: New/Temp Leave Options

March 17, 2020, 3:15 p.m.

Good Afternoon,

In addition to the changes announced yesterday, the senior management team and I, with authorization from the board, have made the following temporary changes to our annual leave policy to better assist employees dealing with the unusual circumstances surrounding the coronavirus situation.

If you want to utilize any of these options, please contact your supervisor, director and Nicole, HR manager. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Leave Options

As previously shared, employees are welcome to request the following leave options:

Paid Annual Leave: If you have time left in your annual leave account, you can take annual leave by contacting your supervisor.

NEW/TEMPORARY If you have run out of annual leave, senior management is temporarily allowing employees to borrow against future annual leave by up to 40 hours. You will “payback” this paid leave negative balance at your next annual leave distribution date.

NEW/TEMPORARY If you are in a “use it, or lose it” situation with your annual leave, due to this special situation, you may request to carry-over more than 240 hours to allow you to save extra annual leave if desired.

Unpaid Leave: Requests for unpaid leave must be made in writing to your direct supervisor, director and HR manager.

Other Options

If you or a loved one do get sick, remember you may be eligible for short-term (partial pay) disability coverage or FMLA (unpaid) coverage. Contact HR for more information.

In addition, there has been a lot of discussion at the state and federal levels about extension of paid employee sick leave and other benefits. We will continue to monitor these discussions and share any applicable information with you.

Please let me or Nicole know if you have any questions.

And please continue to be safe in everything that you do,

Sheryl
