By August 21, 2018Road Advisories

WHEN: Starting Thursday, August 23, 2018

WHERE: Pontiac Trail between North Territorial Road and 8 Mile Road in Salem Township

WHY: Preventative maintenance – chip seal

BACKGROUND: On Thursday, August 23, 2018, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin a chip seal project on Pontiac Trail between North Territorial Road and 8 Mile Road in Salem Township.

The road will be closed to traffic in phases starting at 9 a.m.:

  1. North Territorial Road to Brookville Road
  2. Brookville Road to Five Mile Road
  3. Five Mile Road to Six Mile Road
  4. Six Mile Road to Seven Mile Road

WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route. Residents and property owners who live within the closure will be provided access but all through-traffic will be required to seek an alternate route. The road improvements are expected to take approximately one day. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the project is completed, drivers are advised to lower their speeds to 35 mph while the stone settles.
