BACKGROUND:  On Monday August 17, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin a chip seal project on the following roads in Ann Arbor, Northfield and Salem Townships:

  • Pontiac Trail between US-23 and N. Territorial Road
  • 6 Mile Road between between Pontiac Trail and Chubb Road
  • Sutton Road between Pontiac Trail and N. Territorial Road

This work will be conducted under temporary road closures. Traffic will be detoured at various sections. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.

The road improvements are expected to be completed by Tuesday, August 18. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the roads are back open, drivers are advised to lower their speeds to 35 mph while the stone settles. WCRC will return to this area in a few weeks to apply a fog seal on top of the chip seal and place permanent pavement markings.
