Good afternoon,
It is hard to believe but the Fourth of July holiday is right around the corner. Despite high gas prices, AAA is predicting more than 42 million people will travel by car this holiday weekend. We haven’t seen this level of holiday travel since before the pandemic, but it certainly demonstrates that we are all ready to celebrate our independence and enjoy summer.
As promised last week, we continue to monitor the political conversations about a potential fuel tax holiday. President Biden’s call for a 3-month federal fuel tax holiday remains stalled in the Congress. We are all hoping it stays that way, federal transportation dollars are precious and desperately needed. Discussions about the state gas tax holiday remain equally quiet which again is a good thing.
Please keep your head on a swivel as we finish our road work up this week, especially as we start to see more holiday travelers. If you and your family are traveling this weekend, please use extra caution as well.
