Good Afternoon,

Summer is truly here…schools are out for the summer; Father’s Day is just around the corner and the orange construction cones are out in full force. Happy early Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

While this time of year is my personal favorite, it is also a particularly dangerous time on our roadways. We had another extremely close call this week and frankly got really lucky that everyone was ok. After this and the incident earlier in the month, we are reviewing some of our processes to see what we can do differently. If you have any suggestions, please contact your supervisor or submit a suggestion to the safety committee. Click here to submit a safety suggestion.

On the COVID side of things, Governor Whitmer announced this afternoon that all broad state epidemic orders will be lifted on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. While this is great news, it is a little more complicated than that for us. As your employer, we are subject to both state and county health orders and rules from MIOSHA. As of this afternoon, MIOSHA has not updated its COVID-related workplace rules, so the existing rules remain in effect. If and when MIOSHA updates its workplace rules, we will adjust our procedures accordingly.

So, what does that mean for you today?

  1. As of Tuesday, June 22, employees who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear a face mask inside WCRC facilities.
  2. Employees who are not fully vaccinated are still required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing when leaving their assigned work area in a WCRC facility.
  3. All employees, regardless of vaccination status, are still required to answer the daily screening questions for now.

These changes from the state are another great sign of our progress getting through this pandemic. We have all been through so much and the light at the end of the tunnel is looking quite bright today.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Sheryl
