Good afternoon,
It’s been another hot but productive week of road work for us! Throughout the county we have been working on gravel and HMA resurfacing, drainage projects, fog sealing (which looks fabulous by the way), roundabout construction and more. Kudos to all for jobs well done!
I have received several questions that I would like to share with everyone.
Will summer hours be extended?
Right now, we are scheduled to be on our 4, 10-hour shifts schedule through September 9. We will continue to monitor our workload and the pandemic situation to determine whether we need to extend the 4-day workweek further into September. We understand that this schedule affects many families, so if we do make any changes, we will try to be timely in the decision and let you know as soon as we can. But for now, please assume that our last day of summer hours will remain September 9.
When will the temporary annual leave options end?
We currently have temporary annual leave options that allow staff to borrow against future annual leave or carryover more than 240 hours. These temporary leave options will remain in effect through December 31, 2020. Please contact your supervisor or HR if you have any questions about annual leave.
How Can I Get Tested for the Coronavirus?
For those of you interested in coronavirus testing, we learned today that free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing will be available on Saturday, July 11 from noon to 6 p.m. at Whitmore Lake Middle School. People with or without symptoms can be tested at the site without an appointment or referral. Please note that this testing is completely voluntary. A complete list of COVID-19 testing centers in Washtenaw County can be found at https://www.washtenaw.org/3158/Testing.
Finally, the governor held a press conference today about the recent increase in COVID-19 cases within Michigan. The good news is that we are not moving backwards but we are also not making any progress toward further openings. Her message continues to be to “mask up” when out in public in addition to good hygiene and social distancing. I ask that each of you continue to do your part so that we can get through this safely and as quickly as possible.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. I hope that you all have a fun, relaxing weekend and stay cool!
Take care,
Sheryl
