July 18: Projects, Working Session & Board Meeting

Good morning,

This week, the weather started to cooperate and our crews were able to continue their seal coat applications in Ann Arbor, Dexter, and Webster Townships. We expect to complete the seal coat program next week! Additionally, our operations crews were able perform a handful of drainage and forestry projects, a few unpaved road resurfacing projects, and dust control applications in various locations throughout the county.

Asphalt paving was completed on Miller Rd in Scio Township and the existing surface of 7 Mile Rd in Salem Township has been crushed. Speed hump installations/replacements are taking place in Pittsfield, Superior, and Ypsilanti Townships. Concrete removal on Jackson Rd in Scio Township is on-going, as well as the curb and gutter placement for the Whittaker Rd and Willis Rd Roundabout. And finally, paving has been completed for the Border-to-Border pathway in Scio Township. While the contractor still has some work to complete, we expect to open the pathway at the end of this month!

During the working session board meeting, Dan Ackerman provided an overview of the 2024 second quarter budget review, explaining that WCRC’s financial prospects remain positive and aligned with initial budget forecasts. He also reviewed with the board the budget forecast for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. Attached to this email are the presentation slides Dan presented to the WCRC Board and the Q2 budget report. Feel free to reach out to Dan or me with questions.

During the regular board meeting, Dan Grau was selected as the MERS Retirement Conference Delegate, which will take place in October of this year. The WCRC Board approved an agreement with the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) for watermain and local road improvements, as well as a Superior Township agreement, including a Traffic Calming project on Overbrook Dr. Traffic Control Orders were also approved for numerous locations in Superior and Ypsilanti Townships.

What a busy week! I hope you all can enjoy your weekend.

Thanks,

Matt
