January 22: “Not Yet” for Vaccines

Good Afternoon,

Happy Friday! It has been another busy winter week here at WCRC. From keeping our roads clear of ice and snow to preparing for another banner construction season, I appreciate everything you are doing.

Michigan’s COVID case numbers continue to trend down across the state and more than 550,000 vaccine doses have been administered since December, including 32,000 to eligible Washtenaw County residents. Unfortunately, per the Washtenaw County Health Department (WCHD), road commission staff directly involved with winter maintenance are not yet eligible for the vaccine. These employees are considered 1B – Group C, which are in the “not yet” category.

We continue to work closely with the WCHD on this issue and are hopeful that vaccines will become available for us soon. You can read more about WCHD’s vaccine plans here: https://www.washtenaw.org/3269/COVID-19-Vaccination

We have also updated our Preparedness and Response Plan. There is now one plan per facility. You can find each plan on our COVID webpage within Employee Central.

Finally, we received some good news on the COVID front today. It appears that restaurants and bars will be reopening with restrictions on February 1. Let’s keep up all the good practices we have in place so that this positive trend continues!

Please have a safe and restful weekend,

Sheryl
