It’s (Almost) Beam Time!

By January 14, 2019Uncategorized

This milder winter is certainly helping us out this season. We’ve been making steady progress, the west concrete abutment is in place and sand backfill was placed on Friday. Large stones aka riprap will likely be placed tomorrow.

The west steel sheet cofferdam will remain in place, as a measure to avoid any further disturbance of the underlying artesian condition. The crew will soon begin the process of cutting off and removing the top portion of the steel sheets (seen in the photo below).

Next up will be the concrete work for the west wingwalls and back wall, and placing the concrete beams across the river. Once these items are in place, and if the weather cooperates, the concrete deck will be poured. After the deck has been successfully poured, the project will pause until the spring.

Thanks for your patience on this project. If you have any questions, please contact Aaron Berkholz, project manager, at (734) 327-6648 or [email protected].
