February 9: CEW & CDL Training Policy

Good morning,

The unusual winter weather continues but we got to enjoy some actual sunshine this week! Our operations crews have been tackling the challenges related to the thaw on both our paved and unpaved roadways. They also were able to knock out a handful of forestry and drainage projects throughout the county. Thank you for all your hard work!

Earlier this week, several of our staff attended the County Engineers’ Workshop up in Manistee, MI. This workshop is a great opportunity to stay up to date on best practices, regulations, and networking. Additionally, this workshop allows attendees to obtain continuing education credits to maintain professional engineer licenses. A big thank you to Aaron Berkholz & Nicole Peterson for presenting topics and to Michele Ford who is on the conference planning committee.

During the board meeting this week, contracts were extended for our countywide guardrail program and 2024 lubricating oils. The board also approved the CDL training policy, which will provide full-time employees training with an accredited provider to obtain a CDL license. A huge thanks to Nicole Peterson, HR Manager, for her effort towards enhancing our training opportunities here at WCRC!

Happy Friday and have a good weekend,

Matt
