February 26 – Signs of Spring

Good Afternoon,

And just like that, it feels like winter is starting to wind down (although let’s not forget that it did snow in April last year).

This week brought us warmer temperatures and a lot of melting snow, which means challenging days ahead to maintain our pavements and gravel roads. To help protect the roads during the freeze/thaw cycle, seasonal weight restrictions will go into effect on Monday, March 1 at 6 a.m. Thank you for everyone’s efforts to hold our road system together during the start of the annual spring thaw.

This week also brought the first batch of virtual public meetings for upcoming construction projects. We continue to have good attendance at these Zoom meetings and our project managers are doing a great job sharing information. You can find recordings of all these Zoom meetings on our YouTube channel

We have another huge construction season planned this year. I won’t be able to make my spring yard visits this year due to COVID, but you can find all the project information on the Current Projects page of our website. Later this spring, we will also host a virtual 2021 Construction Season Kick-Off Meeting with the public. We will be sure to share that information with you all as we get closer.

I’m looking forward to another successful construction season. Thanks again for all your efforts and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Only 22 days until the official start of spring!

Matt
