Good morning,
What a wild week of weather we have had! From snow and sunshine, to warm temperatures and freezing rain, we have had a little taste of everything. Although, I will note how nice it was to see the sun rising on my morning commute. Proof that days are getting longer and we are getting close to spring!
Last week, WCRC received final site plan approval from Scio Township to construct a new salt barn in our main yard. This was a huge obstacle to overcome, and the project is currently out to bid. Construction is expected to begin late April – early May, and I will be sure to include updates as the project progresses.
On Tuesday, our board approved contract extensions for the county-wide Hot Mix Asphalt Resurfacing Program and Pavement Marking Programs. Additionally, the MDOT contract for the Whitmore Lake Road Resurfacing Project was granted, as well as a handful of other construction bids. In short, construction season is coming in hot!
Lastly, I would like to note that this week was EWeek (National Engineers Week), and February 23 was national Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. As a female engineer, I love any opportunity to promote diversity in STEM and take part in a larger framework of representation. I encourage each of you to think of how engineering has played a role in your life. Whether that be the roads you drive on, the machines you use, or the organization you work for, you are surrounded by nerds!
This weekend’s forecast looks chilly, but I am hoping the sun sticks around. Stay safe & stay warm!
