December 8: Milestone Anniversary & Board Meeting

Good morning,

It’s the first week of December and, as usual in Michigan, it snowed earlier and now we are looking at record high temps for this weekend. Despite the lack of snow, our operations crews have continued to stay busy with culvert inspections, forestry work, and any possible unpaved road maintenance. All of which is necessary to ensure our roads are in decent condition before the freeze hits. Your hard work is appreciated by many!

During the board meeting this week, we congratulated Tony Grubb on his 25th anniversary, which will take place on 12/17. Tony started here as a heavy truck driver in 1998 and has moved his way to foreman for district 1. We recognize and appreciate his dedicated service to the public and commitment to this organization. His knowledge and dependability are a phenomenal asset to our organization. Thank you for your service, Tony!

On a separate note, the board approved the 2023 year-end budget and 2024 preliminary budget, in addition to the board meeting and working session schedules for 2024. The purchasing of a Western Star semi tractor and a road improvement agreement for a traffic signal on Huron St and Brinker Dr in Ypsilanti were also authorized.

It looks like the weekend forecast is all over the place. I hope you all have a fun and relaxing weekend!

Take care & stay safe,

Sheryl
