December 11: Cautious Optimism

Good Afternoon,

It has been another eventful week. Yesterday, Governor Whitmer shared that the state’s COVID case numbers and hospitalization rates continue to trend down, which is welcomed news. Officials are cautiously optimistic about this trend but they continue to urge Michiganders to stay home this holiday season, cases are still much higher than they were just a few months ago.

There was also hopeful news about COVID vaccines. Today, the FDA announced it intends to “proceed towards an authorization” for the vaccine made by Pfizer. There are a few more regulatory hurdles but vaccines could start to be distributed to priority groups as early as next week.

While it will still be a while until vaccines are available for us, now is a good time to start educating yourself about the vaccine and talking about it with your family. Click here for the state’s COVID vaccine web page.

As always, we will continue to monitor these developments closely.

Lastly, it looks like we have some wet weather headed our way this weekend. Let’s cross our fingers that there is little clean-up needed after the storm. We all deserve a break.

Have a safe weekend,

Sheryl
