August 5: Good and Not So Good

Good afternoon,

I have good and not so good news to share this week…

The good – as I mentioned a few weeks ago, we are looking at ways to improve our vision insurance plan options in 2022. Before we make any decisions, we would like your input. Nicole just sent out a survey and will be providing paper copies of the survey to those without access to a computer. Please complete the survey by Friday, August 13. We appreciate your feedback!

The not so good – Unfortunately, we are not done with COVID. Yesterday, the Washtenaw County Health Department (WCHD) issued a new COVID advisory citing the rising case count in the county. Click here to read the full WCHD advisory.

So, what does this mean for WCRC employees?

  1. We will post signs at each of our facilities encouraging mask wearing in indoor common spaces. Per this order, masking is encouraged but not required.
  2. Employees are also encouraged to practice social distancing and frequent hand washing. In-person, indoor meetings and gatherings are still allowed but distancing is encouraged.
  3. We also strongly encourage anyone who has not been vaccinated to get the vaccine. Everyone 12 years and older is eligible for vaccination. WCHD has Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available. The vaccine is not required for WCRC employees at this time, but I highly encourage everyone eligible to get it.
  4. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19 or have had “close contact” with a COVID-19 positive person, do notreport to work. Contact your supervisor and Nicole Peterson, (734) 255-0818, immediately for further instruction.

As of today, these are recommendations not requirements. But the pandemic remains a very fluid situation. As we have throughout this pandemic, we will continue to follow county, state and federal workplace rules and guidelines.

I know this is not the news we wanted this week. We will continue to monitor the situation and persevere as best we can.

Please have a safe and relaxing weekend,

Sheryl
