April 5: ROW Award, Board Meeting & County Board Meeting

Good morning,

This week two winners were randomly selected from the 20 nominations that were received for the Recognize-Our-Workforce (ROW) Award for the first quarter of 2024. Congratulations to Jamie Kraus, Finance Clerk, and Tiffany Lobbestael, Operations Clerk. Jamie was nominated for her ability to efficiently resolve a billing issue due to her attention to detail and precise documentation. Tiffany Lobbestael was nominated for her willingness to assist the communications team with lobby coverage, phone support and radio coverage. Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations and recognized the hard work performed by your co-workers. The next drawing will be held the first week of July. I highly encourage participating in this employee appreciation program and showcasing the outstanding work of your peers.

During the board meeting on Tuesday, township agreements were approved for Augusta, Dexter, Saline, Scio and York Townships, in addition to a Traffic Calming Project on Hawkes Ave in Pittsfield Township. Equipment purchases were approved for a new network server and four GMC 2500 Sierra Trucks. Additionally, effective April 18, 2024, The WCRC Board approved a four percent cost of living wage adjustment for our non-union employees. This four percent increase matches the wage adjustment for TPOAM employees outlined in the collective bargaining agreement scheduled to take effect in October.

Wednesday evening, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the second reading of the Renewal and Restoration of the Road and Non-Motorized millage during their board meeting. This was the final action by the BOC to place the millage on the ballot for the August 2024 election.

Our crews have been working hard this week to maintain our unpaved road system and pothole patch throughout the county. Forestry and drainage work continues on the unpaved road improvement project on Joy Rd in Ann Arbor & Northfield Townships, and a culvert was replaced on Clinton Rd in Bridgewater Township, as well as on Weber Rd in Freedom Township. Additionally, some of our construction projects have started and many are preparing to start.

Thank you all for your hard work and enjoy this upcoming weekend!

Matt
