April 30 – Heading in the Right Direction

April 30, 2020

Good Afternoon,

Well, we have almost made it to the end of another week, and we head into the weekend hearing positive news from our state officials. Governor Whitmer and others shared yesterday that our collective efforts of social distancing are working. The numbers continue to show positive trends in fighting this illness and flattening the curve. We may not be completely out of the woods yet, but we are heading in the right direction.

As I’ve shared before, I expect all of us at WCRC to continue to work “remotely”, as we have been doing, for the near future. This week, the governor announced her MI Safe Start plan to begin slowly reopening the economy based on risk and type of work to be performed. The directors and I will continue to monitor these efforts, as well as those of our county health department, for guidance on what our next phase will look like, but no dates or parameters have been set at this time.

I’m pleased to share that we have received our face coverings and they should have been delivered to every employee as of today. If you have not received your face coverings, please contact your supervisor immediately. With this new fashion trend, we’d like to collect photos of employees conducting their important work while sporting their new PPE. If you would like to share your “mask selfie”, please send it to Emily, [email protected].

Lastly, I’d like to end my note today by sharing a beautiful video created by our friends at SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. This message of gratitude is intended for local government officials, healthcare providers, transportation professionals, grocery store workers and others who are playing in important role during this pandemic. If you look closely, you might recognize someone at the 55 second mark 😊.

As always, thank you for all of your hard work this week!

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
