April 22: Summer Hours, Work Zone Safety and Budget

Good Afternoon,

As you know, we traditionally hold our Spring Luncheon today to mark our switch to summer hours and the unofficial start to the construction season. I really missing gathering with you all to share BBQ and fellowship. I’m hopeful we be able to get back to traditions like Spring Luncheon and Pancake Breakfast very soon.

Next week is National Work Zone Awareness Week. In honor of this event, we will be sharing information on our social media channels throughout the week encouraging the public to slow down and pay attention as they travel through work zones. As our own construction season starts in earnest (local asphalt plants are officially open!), please continue to stay vigilant on the roads. We want all of you going home safely at the end of each day.

This time of year is also when the directors and our board review the budget together at a working session. While this year is certainly an odd one for so many reasons, budget-wise, we continue to be in good shape. Staff has recommended some budget adjustments for the next board meeting but nothing major. We will continue to monitor all aspects of the budget and keep you informed. If you are curious, click here to read the draft 2021 Budget Report: Q1 Analysis.

Thanks for all your efforts during this wild weather week. Let’s hope that we are done with winter maintenance for a while.

I hope you enjoy your first Friday off and have a wonderful weekend,

Sheryl
