April 13: Mask/Face Coverings Protocol

April 13, 2020

Good Afternoon,

I hope you had a nice weekend and the opportunity to connect with family and friends even if in a virtual setting. Sounds like we have some interesting weather rolling through today, thank you in advance for your efforts during this latest windstorm

As I shared last week, Governor Whitmer did extend the Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives Executive Order. This stay-at-home order now extends to April 30, 2020. While the governor did expand restrictions for certain retail essential businesses, she did not make any significant changes impacting our maintenance work or road construction. We will continue to operate as “remote workers” through at least the end of this new order.

As you know, we have been working to procure masks and other face coverings for employees who can’t maintain the required 6-feet of social distancing. As I shared last week, we now have a limited supply of medical face masks that will be distributed to employees this week based on job assignment and ability to social distance. We are also trying to acquire fabric masks and face coverings that can be laundered. These items are literally flying off the shelves of warehouses, but we are hoping to have at least some bandanas in stock later this week or early next week. Click here to read our new protocol for wearing masks or face coverings. I want to thank Jeff Mann and his team for working so hard to procure these items.

I know there has been nearly constant change for more than a month now, I appreciate everyone’s flexibility and support during this challenging time. This continues to be a fluid situation and I will continue to provide updates as things evolve.

Thank you,

Sheryl
