April 1: April Fools’ Day Snow

Good Afternoon,

Mother Nature is playing a joke on us this April Fools’ Day as we watch the snowflakes flutter around us. But we know spring is here since it’s also Opening Day for Tigers baseball. Only in Michigan do we need snow gear and sunscreen in the same week!

I want to thank those who reached out to me this week after my email on Monday. I’m feeling much better. I plan to be back in the office next week now that I have been cleared by health guidelines to return.

As I personally experienced this week, the COVID case numbers in Michigan continue to rise. Michigan now ranks at the top nationally for daily new cases. We all need to remain vigilant and do the things that we know work to protect ourselves and reduce community spread – wear a mask, social distance from others and wash your hands frequently.

The state is continuing to make good progress on distributing the vaccine. This week, we sent our list of remaining employees interested in receiving the vaccine to the Washtenaw County Health Department. Moving forward, staff from WCHD will directly contact employees on the list when appointments become available. If you would like to be added to this list, please let Nicole know.

Also, even if you are on our list, I encourage you to pursue a vaccine from other venues if you can. In Michigan, everyone 16 and older will be eligible for a vaccine starting Monday, April 5 and more clinics are organized each week. If you are able to get a vaccine from other source, please let Nicole know so we can update our records.

For those of you who have chosen to receive the vaccine, I want to thank you. This is a very personal decision but one that benefits all of us. You are not only choosing to protect yourself but also your family and coworkers. Thank you.

Finally, we are heading into a nice, long Easter weekend. I hope you are still able to relax, safely enjoy the weekend and beautiful weather.

Take care and stay safe,

Sheryl
