Project Announcement: Bush Rd Bridge Replacement Project (Sylvan Twp)

The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is excited to announce plans to replace the Bush Road Bridge over Letts Creek, between Ivey Road and Sibley Road in Sylvan Township. The bridge has long surpassed its intended service life and has been operating under weight restrictions for several years.

WCRC plans construction in the 2027 construction season and design for the replacement structure is ongoing.  When construction begins in 2027, the Bush Road Bridge will be closed to all traffic. Motorists will be redirected along a signed detour route. The bridge project is funded through the Michigan Transportation Funds (MTF) as well as a grant from the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commission.

“Modernizing the Bush Road Bridge allows us to meet the current and future transportation demands of the community,” said Kevin Dubnicki, Project Manager, Design and Construction. “We appreciate the collaboration with our funding partners at the state level, which makes large-scale structural upgrades like this project possible.”

WCRC will host virtual informational meetings to share progress, answer questions, and gather community feedback as the construction season approaches.
