The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is improving safety at the intersection of Old US-12 and Pierce Rd/I-94 in Sylvan Township.
The week of August 31, 2026, the intersection of Old US-12 and Pierce Rd/I-94 in Sylvan Township will be converted to an all-way stop, also known as a four-way stop. Currently, the intersection is a 2-way stop with Old US-12 traffic having the right-of-way.
An evaluation of the intersection determined that warrants were met for a multi-way stop based on the Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD). Weather permitting, the conversion will be implemented the week of August 31st. Warning signs will be placed in advance of the new stop signs to alert motorists of the change.
Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution through the intersection once the change has been implemented.
