The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Truck Driver. This position performs a variety of roadway maintenance activities including, but not limited to pothole repairs, culvert repair and installation, tree trimming, brush control, hauling material to various operations and winter maintenance activities. Applicants must be willing to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours and work overtime including holidays and weekends.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, possession of a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an “N” (Tank) endorsement, ability to lift 100 lbs., and one (1) year of heavy equipment experience and/or heavy construction/physical labor experience.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is currently seeking college students for internships available this spring/summer 2017 in our Engineering Department.
TRAFFIC AND SAFETY
The student intern will work with our sign and signal crews to perform a variety of maintenance activities on the sign and signal infrastructure around Washtenaw County. The student will also assist in maintaining the advanced traffic management system. The hourly wage is $11.00 per hour. The hours will be Monday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The student intern will work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer. The student can expect to gain experience working in a transportation construction environment. The student will be exposed to a variety of construction management and inspection duties. The hourly wage is $12.00 per hour. The hours will be Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with overtime.
The student intern will work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer. The student will be exposed to a variety of construction activities within the road right-of-way. The students will assist with the inspection of utility, driveway and other miscellaneous permits. The hourly wage is $12.00 per hour. The hours will be Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
*Students must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, be an active student returning or enrolling in the fall of 2017, and preferably perusing an Engineering or Construction Management degree.

The hours will be Monday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hourly wage is $11.00 an hour.
